Business travel is a great way to get to see places you normally would not see, and the company you work for pays the expenses. Sometimes it is for a short period of time, a conference over a weekend, where you showcase your products and learn about new items soon to be on the market. Maybe you have been sent to a weeklong training course to help you prepare for a new position, or enable you to do your job more efficiently. Often a short trip like this will have more than one person going, or a whole group. They can be a lot of fun, and build on the co-worker relationships. Longer trips for business travel are usually done when one company, or branch, sends a person to another to help out, or troubleshoot a situation. This usually involves only one, maybe two, people. The workers are generally provided a place to live, either in a hotel or the company may have a condo or house in the area for such use. They are also given extra pay, a per diem pay, in addition to their normal salary to compensate for not being at home. On the longer trips you may be allowed to take a spouse or even children if it going to be a very extended period and your spouse does not have a career at home they cannot leave. The shorter trips normally do not allow for family to come, or, I should say, any family that you do take with you will be at your own expense. Business travel can be fun and exciting; it can take you around the world. If given the chance to do any, I highly suggest doing so.
